The second wave of COVID 19 has indeed hit Nigeria. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC confirmed 920 cases and 6 deaths and 300 recoveries between 19 & 20 Dec. 2020.
The new cases were from 17 states and Federal Capital territory. Of the 920 cases Lagos state recorded 308 followed by FCT207, Kaduna 179, Plateau 46, Niger 43, Adamawa 26, Sokoto 18, and Rivers 16.
The NCDC reported Yobe has 15 new cases in the period under review, while Enugu and Kano recorded 13 new cases. Other states with reported cases include Ogun12, Delta10, Edo 5, Osun and Oyo 3 each, Anambra 2 and Ekiti 1.
The agency said that a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre activated at level 3 had continued to coordinate national response activities.
NCDC has told Nigerians to take responsibility. It has urged citizens to adhere to safety protocols including hand washing, proper use of face mask and physical distancing.
