The International Association of Lions Clubs, District 404B1 Nigeria flags off World Sight Day today Tuesday 12th October, at Idimu, Lagos.
The Chairman of the District’s World Sight Day Lion Bamidele Sadiku said the flag off is to create awareness for the global sight day coming up 14th October. According to Sadiku, there are about 600million sight impairment world- wide.
More than 100 people, among whom were patients with different kinds of visual challenges, registered for the flagging off ceremony.
Highlights of the event include free screening for visual impairments, free distribution of drugs and eye glasses to take care of their vision challenges.
At the event, lions including Lion Joy Obeto of Satellite Central Lions Club and PDG Bolarinwa Lions Club, volunteered to sponsor the cost of surgeries and treatment for three cataract patients.
Visually impaired patients and guests at the event got free eye care lecture.
