Dawn of a New Era; Jide Bello takes Lions District 404 B3 to the Next Level

Lion (Dr) Jide Bello of Lions Club International District 404 B3, Nigeria has been formally presented to the public as the District Governor of the district at a gathering of who is who in the Lions family, government, and corporate executives as well as public-spirited individuals in Nigeria.

At the event which recently took place in Lagos, Dr Jide Bello reiterated his commitment to serving humanity. According to the new DG, the leadership drive of his administration will ensure Lions Clubs International service impacts reach the nooks and crannies of the communities in the district. Adding that the sustainability of the service impacts will be anchored via his resolve to build a strong corporate partnerships with local and international organizations to amplify the district resources and extend its reach.

At the public presentation program, which also doubles as a platform for raising N200 million for the district service project, Dr Bello reiterated the commitment of the district to feed 5,000 people and distribute 3,000 eyeglasses among other projects for the 2024/25 Lions Service Year. According to the DG, “We will prioritize the construction of a ‘Food Court’ to provide nutritious meals to those in need, ensuring that no one goes to bed hungry because we aim to reach 5,000 people.”

He also emphasized the district’s plan to distribute 3,000 eyeglasses to individuals with vision impairments. Lions anywhere are the knight of the blind, therefore district 404B3 will continue to champion vision campaign. “Clear vision is essential for a better quality of life. We will focus on distributing eyeglasses across our district to those who cannot afford them, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to see the world. Our target is to build on last year’s efforts with an additional 3,000 eyeglasses,” he said.

Childhood cancer, according to the DG, is another issue that the district will address in line with Lions Clubs International focal service areas. “Childhood cancer is a critical issue that demands our attention. We will enhance our efforts to support cancer children and their families through medical assistance, awareness campaigns, and emotional support.”

The new DG highlighted the importance of recruiting new members, particularly the youth and senior citizens while retaining current members through engaging and impactful initiatives.

Lions Clubs International Director, Lion Princess Bridget Adetope Tychus, admonished the new District Governor to use his leadership skills and experience as well as human resources that abound in the district to serve the communities in order to leave indelible footprints for posterity.
